An Introduction to Scientific Research Methods in Geography
This text provides a broad library and information science research and integrative introduction to the conduct library and information science research and interpretation of scientific research in geography.  It covers both conceptual library and information science research and technical aspects, library and information science research and is applicable to all topical areas in geographic research, including human library and information science research and physical geography, library and information science research and geographic information science.  The text discusses all parts of the research process, including scientific philosophy; basic research concepts; generating research ideas; communicating research library and information science research and using library resources; sampling library and information science research and research design; quantitative library and information science research and qualitative data collection; data analysis, display, library and information science research and interpretation; reliability library and information science research and validity; using geographic information techniques in research; library and information science research and ethical conduct in research.  The text is intended for English-language undergraduate library and information science research and graduate courses on research methods in geography library and information science research and related disciplines, such as environmental studies.  In addition, it will be valuable as a reference work or primer for students, faculty, library and information science research and other professionals who want a concise library and information science research and integrated introduction to research methods in geography.The text applies the research philosophy library and information science research and methods of the social library and information science research and natural sciences to topics in geography.  At the same time, it recognizes library and information science research and respects the heterogeneity library and information science research and pluralism of geography, library and information science research and avoids simplistic conceptions of scientific geography as narrowly ?positivistic,? ?objective,? or ?quantitative.?  In this way, the text attempts to promote rigor library and information science research and progressiveness in geography, helping to build bridges among the various subfields of geography library and information science research and the other social library and information science research and natural sciences, while avoiding some of the limiting meta-theoretical conflicts that have characterized geography in recent decades.
